Hemma creates fresh, elegant collections using authentic hand-woven Kente, a textile rich in African royal tradition. Kente began to flourish in West Africa in the 17th century and still remains prominent representing social prestige, luxury, and cultural sophistication. Each garment is uniquely handmade from intricately hand-woven Kente imported from Ghana. By incorporating the same techniques used to dress Ghanaian nobility for centuries, Hemma allows each client to exude royalty. By investing in quality pieces that last a lifetime, the lives of Ghanaian school children are also impacted. A percentage of all proceeds will be donated to a West African middle school where the designers instructed classes.

Cortney Renee on Hemma

Cortney Renee is the fashion resource for brands with a philanthropic mission. She promotes every fashion brand on the market that endeavors to make a difference. She thrives on motivating brands to live by her personal mantra: “True beauty comes from a heart that lives to give back”. We are proud to have collaborated with Cortney Renee and look forward to working together further in the future. We met Cortney when she came across Hemma at our Soho Trunk show last month and her passion for justice attracted her to Hemma and The Hemma Foundation.

She has a passion for both fashion and philanthropy, and she loves fashion that makes a difference. She hopes to inspire those around her to make a creative and engaging world contribution.

We applaude Cortney Renee for working towards equality and helping to make the world a safer, more educated world!
